Motorway Driving
An L-plate driver can't drive on a motorway. Therefore you don't get lessons on them. When you pass your test, you are suddenly entitled to drive on them and many new drivers understandably feel intimidated.
It does feel like another world out there and there are a number of issues covered by the Highway Code which will help....
