Keep your licence

Have a look at these pages to help you keep your licence clean!

In your first 2 years of driving, just six points will mean disqualification. That means you'll have to take your theory and your practical test AGAIN. Just think of the costs of repeating all that, not to mention the increase in your insurance.

This rule is designed to keep new drivers focused on their driving and help them build up experience, whilst avoiding getting in trouble with the law.

6 is really 2

6 points is really just 2 speeding offences. But you can get six in one go for more serious offences. For example, 2 bald tyres will get you 6 points and a large fine. That is why young drivers need to read websites like this one.

Speeding is probably the easiest way to get points. 92% of motoring convictions are for speeding. And the points on your licence will stay there for 3 years. Insurance companies will often ask if you have had points and convicitons in the past 5 years.
