Group 1 Insurance Cars

Here are just a few of the makes and models which fall into the cheapest insurance category. Be aware that a new £10,000 group 1 car will cost more to insure than an old £750 version of the same model.

On the right is a list of all new Group 1 cars- look out for older versions of these models which are likely to also be group 1.

If, like most of us, you won't be buying new, here are some realistic options for your first car...

Hover the mouse over the pictures for a description.

Citroen 2CV - don't laugh, it's a classic! Fiat Panda 4x4 - A new driver's Range Rover?
Mini 1000cc - small, cheap to run and great fun! Vauxhall Corsa 12v 973cc - still looks good.
Skoda Fabia 1.2 Classic. Better than you'd think. Good value. Fiat Cinquecento 900cc. Upgrade to the Panda. Cheap and nippy.

The following cars are common choices for new
drivers but fall into higher categories.

Citroen Saxo 1.0 Mischief - basic Saxo looks good but is Group 3. Fiesta LX 1295cc - an obvious choice but it's in Group 4
Nissan Micra 1.2 GSX - even the old model was a Group 4 Vauxhall Calibra 2.5 V6 - still looks good but at it's Group 16 insurance price you could buy 2 more for your money!
